Ephesians 4verse14-15 ‘That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.’
As you can see from our text scripture (Ephesians 4v14-15), God does not want you to remain a baby Christian all your life rather, he wants you to grow up unto Christ in all things. Is this possible in this life? The answer is Yes because God never promises what he can’t deliver or fulfill. So it’s possible to become Spiritually Matured in Christ regardless of where you are now. This should excite you and motivate you to draw closer to God. However, my focus in today’s lesson will be on the Signs of a matured Christian. Just like you can identify a baby Christian, in the same way, you can also know if someone is mature or not. Matt7v16,20. So what are the visible signs of spiritual maturity?
VITAL SIGNS OF A MATURE BELIEVER:
1. They are able to receive the solid meat of God’s Word. It’s not everyone that can receive the deep things of God. This is because they are still feeding on the milk of the Word. They have not developed their spiritual teeth, hence the reason why they can’t handle such. They are yet to graduate from the elementary stuff; this is why they can’t handle the Deeper dimensions of God. This is why you need to grow in order not to be left behind. This is one major characteristic of a mature Christian. So how much of God’s Word are you able to handle? Heb5v14
2. Their spiritual senses are fully developed. They can distinguish between good and evil. They can discern their left hand spiritually from their right hand through the law of constant practice. This is what makes you a Matured Christian, so my dear brothers and sisters, how strong is your discernment level? Maturity is a stage of discernment, where someone is able to make sound judgment and decisions. Honestly speaking, to what extent are you exercising your spiritual senses? 1Cor2v15
3. They are able to teach or impact others. This is one of the essential qualities of a mature Christian. They are able to raise or help others. They are not just receivers but givers. This is what God wants your life to be like. He wants you to move from being carried to carrying others. He wants you to be a Blessing and not just blessed. So who are you raising up? Who is getting better because of you? The answers you give to these questions will tell where you are in your journey of faith. Acts20v28
Dearly beloved, just like every tree is known by its fruits, I believe that you can see that the kind of fruit you are bearing shows whether you are maturing or not.
