Growing Up To Maturity 4

Ephesians 4verse14-15 ‘That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ’  

I trust that this series on Growing up to Maturity has been a great blessing to you. Our focus lately has been on the signs or marks of a Baby Christian. The essence of these truths is to help you to know where you are in your journey of faith and also how to move forward to greater things because God’s plan is for you to keep getting better. Just as spiritual maturity is discernable, spiritual Immaturity is also recognizable. In our lesson today, I will be sharing with you the remaining attributes of a baby Christian. So without much ado, let’s examine these truths right away.

SIGNS OF A BABY BELIEVER:

9. They have not fully developed their spiritual senses. Just as you have physical senses, you also have spiritual senses. So, how developed are your spiritual senses? By this, I mean, how developed is your ability to see, smell, hear, touch and taste spiritually speaking? The development of your spiritual senses is an indication of your maturity in Christ. So it’s time to grow up in these areas of your life if you really want to become spiritually mature. Matt13v16

10. They are still carnally minded. A carnally minded person is someone who is still controlled by their flesh or body. They are essentially ruled or governed by their senses. Anyone who is still like this is still a baby Christian. However, the truth of the matter is that we were all carnal at a stage of our walk with God, but as we grew up in Christ, we outgrew all of those things. So where are you with regards to the carnal nature? Rom8v6

11. They are stagnant. A baby Christian is someone who remains on the same spot. They have not left where they were yesterday. God obviously does not want you to be like this but he wants you to keep moving forward in your walk with him. So the time has come to rebel against every attempt of the enemy to keep you on the same spot. Declare with me, “I move”. Gal4v19

12. They are selfish and self-centered. They are still driven or controlled by their egos or selfish interest. An immature Christian is not thinking about others but themselves only. They are basically living for themselves, but do you know that there is a higher way to live? It’s by being other people minded but this is one of the signs of being a mature Christian. So, my dear brothers and sisters, it’s time to leave the mundane things behind and move unto Greater Exploits in Christ. Matt20v28. May today usher you into a new season in your walk with God, amen.

Prayer for Today: Lord, help me to do away with all forms of carnality in my life in Jesus name amen.

CONFESSION: It’s my desire to grow up in my Walk with God. Therefore, I do away with every work of the flesh and habits of a baby Christian. I embrace the culture of spiritual discipline that will empower me to grow. I am focused on growing to be more like Christ day by day. This is my prayer and desire, so help me, God!
