2Chro.27v6: So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.
There are proper ways of getting ready for a new year and there are wrong ways of getting ready for a new year. You certainly want to make the most of your preparation time. This is what I will be focusing my discussion on for some time now. There are proven and tested principles that will enable you to get the best of any new year. I trust that you will be blessed and helped by these principles as we go through them from today. So, what are the tools that you need to get ready for a new year?
TOOLS FOR GETTING READY FOR A NEW YEAR:
- Start your preparation early. To get the best out of any year, you need to get ready on time. Early preparation is far better than late preparation. It’s better to avoid doing catch-up; so avoid late preparations by all means. Do it now! Today is the best day of your life, so use it wisely (Ps.118v24). Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. This is why it’s called the present, so make sure you use it well. The secret behind the success of Solomon’s temple was because David his father started its preparation early (1Chro.22v5). Make today count by preparing now!
- Prepare abundantly. Be excessive in your preparation for the new year as it’s better to over prepare than to under-prepare. Make sure you are doing all you can and on top of that, go the extra-mile. Don’t just do what is expected of you, do more than is expected of you. Make sure you leave no stone unturned or untouched in your preparation. As much as possible, be thorough in your preparation, for this will guarantee your success in the new year(1Chro.22v3-4).
- Prepare with all your might. My dear reader, endeavour to put your heart into your preparation for the new year. Give it your best shot. Avoid distractions by all means. Make sure you stay focused on what you really want to achieve. One of the things that separates the good from the great is the heart, so make sure you are giving your preparation your best shot and input (1Chro.29v2).
My dear reader, it’s time to hit the ground running with your preparation for the new year. It’s time to make hay while the sun shines in Jesus name, amen.

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, help me to make the most of the new year as I step up my preparations in Jesus name, amen.
CONFESSION: This year will be far better than last year. I will get more out of this year as I step up my preparations. I choose to prepare abundantly and will do so with all my might. I am an early starter and not a late starter. As I focus on my preparation, I am breaking new grounds and territories. Glory be to Jesus, for I am a trail blazer this year in Jesus name, amen.
