2Chro.27v6: So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.

How ready are you for the new year? From my experience over the years, most people do not take seriously the issue of getting ready for a new year. These people also have a lackadaisical attitude to getting ready for a new year. Worse still, some don’t even know that there is a right time to prepare for a new year. This is why you need to take your preparation very seriously. Preparation time is never wasted time. This was why King Jotham in our text was very successful and powerful. The time you spend preparing for a new year will help you greatly to make the most of the year. So, what plans are you putting in place for the new year? (2Chro.12v14).

I am sure you are wondering why you need to prepare for the new year? What are the benefits or advantages of doing such? I would like to share with you at this juncture 3 powerful reasons why you need to prepare for a new year.

REASONS FOR GETTING READY FOR A NEW YEAR:

  1. It will help you to take advantage of the new year. In other words, getting ready for the new year helps you to maximize the opportunities in the new year, as you cannot take full advantage of what you are not ready or prepared for. You know it’s just like sitting for an exam, you stand a better chance if you are adequately prepared. The future belongs to those who can see and seize it. So, it’s time to get ready! (Matt.25v1-13).
  2. It will determine how you will perform in the new year. My dear reader, your preparation plays a great part in your performance. You can’t separate your preparation from your performance. This is why poor preparation will promote poor performance while proper preparation will prevent poor performance. So, if you are poorly performing, check your preparation. This is one of the major reasons for you to pay attention to your preparation for a new year (1Chro.22v5).
  3. It will determine how successful you will be in the new year. Success comes when opportunity meets with preparation. So your success is a function of your preparation. This is why it’s important for you to get ready for a new year. The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his time when it comes (Dan.1v8, 20). How prepared are you for the new year? What kind of plans are you putting in place? The answers you give to these questions will determine your level of preparation for the new year. It’s time to get busy fashioning out your goals and aspirations for the year.
