Gen.12v1-4: The Lord has said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you”. So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.

What do you need to do in order to get out of your comfort zone? This and many more answers I will be providing by His grace in this series of teachings. There are ways of coming out of your comfort zone and it’s possible to get out. If Father Abraham could do it, it’s a certainty that you too can come out of your comfort zone. I will be sharing 7 powerful principles that will enable you to get out of the comfort zone. So if you are ready, here we go!

PRINCIPLES FOR COMING OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE:

  1. Be ready to confront challenges. You won’t get out of your comfort zone until you begin to confront your challenges. So, what are the challenges before you? What are you doing about them? No challenge will leave you the same way it met you. It will either stretch or stress you, it just depends on your response to it. Stop running away from challenges but instead start confronting them. The more you confront your challenges, the greater your chances of coming out of your comfort zone. Why is this so? It’s so because confronting your challenges moves you out of your comfortable or complacent stage i.e. making you take actions and steps which will ultimately make you a better person. This is why the person who confronts their challenges is still far better than the one who runs away from them. Make up your mind from today to start facing your challenges (1Sam.17v24, 32, 48) and watch out for the transformation that you will see in your life.
  2. Be ready to do more. There are 3 kinds of people in this life i.e. people who do what they are told, people who don’t do what they are told, and people who do more than what they are told. You need to belong to the category of the people who do more if you want to come out of the comfort zone. My dear reader, don’t just do the minimum or maximum but do more (Eccle.9v11). Give whatever you do your best shot. What does it really mean to do more?

To do more means to:

  • Do more than what you normally do.
  • Do more than what you are told to do.
  • Do more than what is expected of you.
  • Be willing to stretch yourself.
  • Be willing to go the extra mile.
  • Be willing to sacrifice.

Dear friends, you need to imbibe the culture of doing more in all your endeavours and pursuits in life. Stop doing little but do more. I want you to remember that you were made for more, so why settle for less; besides, doing more will get you out of the comfort zone. I, therefore, encourage you to start doing more from today! Things will certainly change for the better as you make this adjustment in Jesus name, amen.
