Gen.12v1-4: The Lord has said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you”. So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.

Dear friends, I do believe you want to come out of your comfort zone because this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. As Father Abraham came out of his comfort zone, you too need to endeavour to come out in order to experience the fullness of what God has in store for you. In our last discussion, I laid a solid foundation of this subject matter, today by His grace, our focus will be on the dangers of living in the comfort zone. There are severe consequences of staying in your comfort zone. I believe as we look at some of these dangers, you will be encouraged to come out of your comfort zone.

DANGERS OF LIVING IN THE COMFORT ZONE:

  1. It will limit your growth. Staying in your comfort zone will prevent you from growing like you ought to. Therefore, to experience explosive growth, you need to get out of your comfort zone. And when I talk about growth, I am referring to growth in all areas of life such as spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially, professionally, relationally et cetera. If you ever want to become a better person, you need to get out of your comfort zone. Will you rise up to this challenge today? (Deut.32v11).
  2. It will make you settle for something less. When you refuse to get out of your comfort zone, this is what often happens. At times, a lesser life, a lower paycheck, or an average life is a result of remaining in your comfort zone. Whereas, stepping out of your comfort zone enables you to live a fulfilling and satisfying life. I, therefore, encourage you from today to say no to a life of mediocrity.
  3. It will prevent you from discovering new things/territories. Those who discover new territories never stay put in their comfort zone. The truth of the matter is that you won’t discover yourself and what you are capable of doing if you remain in your comfort zone. So it’s time to get out of your boat. It’s time to explore new things. It’s time to get out of your comfort zone. Are you ready for this challenge? (Matt.14v28)
  4. It will limit your chances of success. Genuine and greater success lies outside your comfort zone. My dear reader, your dreams won’t see the light of day if you remain in your comfort zone. This is one of the dangers of staying in your comfort zone that you need to avoid. (Gen.39v2-6).

My prayer for you today is that you will not die in your comfort zone. May your dreams find fulfilment and expression as you step out of your comfort zone.
