Gen.12v1-4: The Lord has said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you”. So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.
You can live life from either a comfort or a challenge zone. Where are you living life from? From my experience in life, most people live in the comfort zone. That was the kind of zone Abraham was living in Ur of the Chaldeans before God called him out as you can see in Gen.12v1-4. God was calling him out to something greater and better than where he was. In the same vein, you need to get out of the comfort zone of life. By the way, what is a comfort zone? A comfort zone can be defined by the following:
- A situation in which you feel comfortable and do not have to do anything new or difficult.
- A settled method of working that requires little effort and yields only barely average results.
- The level at which one functions with ease and familiarity.
- It is a place where people only do things they are not afraid of and do not take risks.
These are just some of the meanings of a comfort zone and I believe you can now see what a comfort zone really means (Amos 6v1).
Precious child of God, the comfort zone may be a good place but I want you to know it’s the enemy of a far better place. So it’s time for you to move out of your comfort zone. This is the essence of this series of teachings and may you find the strength and grace to do the needful in Jesus name, amen. However, before I round up our discussion today, I want you to pay attention to certain truths about the comfort zone.
TRUTHS ABOUT THE COMFORT ZONE:
- God does not want you to remain in the comfort zone. The comfort zone is not supposed to be your resting place but a stepping stone to greatness (Deut.2v3).
- The comfort zone will stop you from living life to the fullest. So make up your mind to get out (Jn.10v10).
- It’s easy to slip into the comfort zone. You could slip into it either knowingly or unknowingly (Matt.13v25). This is why you need to take heed and be watchful.
- Everybody has a comfort zone.
- All progress takes place outside the comfort zone.
My dear reader, it’s time to say no to mediocrity, the survival mode, and the average life. It’s time to embrace the challenge zone. It’s time to come out of your comfort zone. May today mark the beginning of such an encounter for you in Jesus name, amen.

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, I renounce from today everything that keeps me in my comfort zone. I say no to my comfort zone and I say yes to the challenge zone in Jesus name, amen.
CONFESSION: I refuse to settle for an average life and I rebel against every enemy of my peace and progress. I am determined and committed to coming out of my comfort zone. Nothing can hold me down. Nothing will hinder me for my God has called me to a higher and superior life. Therefore, I will live my life to the fullest as God has designed and planned for me in Jesus name, amen.
