2Corinthians 10verse12 ‘For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.’
One thing some of us are guilty of is comparing yourself with others! This is something we should avoid at all costs! There is no how you will be you and also fulfilled by doing this. You can learn from others or be inspired by them but you should never play the comparison game. If you do so, you will increase your chances of unhappiness. So you need to avoid this at all costs! Infact I have also discovered that some people are jealous or envious because of playing the comparison game. As you can see from our text scripture (2Corinthians 10verse12) comparing yourself with others just shows your lack of wisdom.
So my dear brothers and sisters, stop trying to outdo others. Your real competition is the enemy and not your brother or sister.
However, what are some of the reasons why you should not Compare Yourself with Others? I would like us to consider 3 of such reasons:
1. Everybody has his own race to run. This is why you should not compare yourself with others. Instead, you ought to focus on your own race and destiny. At times some people have been distracted from running their own race because of comparison. 1Cor7v20
2. Everybody has his own timetable. Yes the fact that it is happening for someone now does not mean it won’t happen for you too. You just need to be patient and wait for your time. God makes everything beautiful in his own time. Eccl3v11. So stop trying to make something happen before it’s time.
3. Everybody will give an account of their own race. Yes, my dear reader, you will render your own stewardship. This is why you should not envy anyone or even compare yourself with them. Rom14v12. If everyone remembers this truth, it will greatly help them in living their lives better.
So my admonition to you today, is to run your race without distractions or derailment. Keep your eyes on Jesus and your destination. Keep your eyes on your goals and aspirations. Run your race to the best of your ability so that you can receive your due reward. 2Tim4v7. Avoid distractions by all means so that you can fulfil your glorious destiny.
