Lk. 18 v 1: Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.
You are welcome back to our discussion on this all-important subject matter. I decree that your prayer life is gaining momentum and power in Jesus name, amen. I have been sharing with you the tools that can help you to develop a vibrant and stronger prayer life and our focus in today’s lesson will be on another major tool for developing your prayer life. Without much ado, I will like us to examine it right away!
How to develop your prayer life?
2. By learning the principles of prayer. I have discovered that principles govern life and if you want to grow your prayer life, you need to learn the principles that govern prayer. How does someone become a doctor or a lawyer? It’s by training and learning. In the same vein, to become an authority in the place of prayer, you need instruction and training. Are you willing to learn? (Isa.48v17) I guess your answer is YES. So how do you learn these principles of prayer? You can learn:
- From others. One of the best ways of learning is by observation and examples of others. This also applies to developing your prayer life. Our Lord Jesus taught his disciples to pray by his examples. Whose example are you following after in the school of prayer? (Lk.9v28-29).
- From study. Through your personal studies, you can learn the principles of prayer. This is what I can testify of in my personal life. I have learnt a lot from studying the lives and histories of men and women of prayer by reading their books and materials on prayers and this has had a great impact on my prayer life. It’s time to make yourself a good student of prayer by drawing virtue and wisdom from great men and women of prayer. I guarantee you that your prayer life will never be the same again (2Tim.2v15).
- From the teachings of others. This teaching could either be via recorded means or by live services or programs. The teaching of God’s word is one major avenue through which instruction, insight, and knowledge can be imparted. From whose fountain of knowledge are you drawing from? For example, the Apostles drew from the fountain of knowledge of Jesus Christ through his teachings on prayer. (Lk.18v1)
My dear reader, it’s apparent that you can develop your prayer life if you are willing to learn the principles of prayer from those who have gone ahead of you. Are you ready to make good use of this opportunity?

Prayer for Today: Holy Spirit, I humble and surrender myself in learning the principles that govern prayers in Jesus name, amen.
CONFESSION: Heavenly Father, I commit myself to learning the rudiments of prayer. I am willing to learn and take instructions. I am willing to apply what I have learnt. I am ready to gain wisdom and insight. I am ready for a change in my prayer life. I receive your fresh visitation on my prayer life from today in Jesus name, amen.
