Matt. 4v19-20: Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men”. They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

Acts 4v13: Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

If you will ever realize your full potential, you will need to develop your leadership ability. The more you develop it, the better you become as a person and in the way you do things. This is why I have been sharing with you this great subject of Leadership. It’s time to take ownership and responsibility for the development of your leadership ability. I have so far shared two powerful keys to unlocking your capacity to lead. Today’s lesson will be centred around the third component that you need to develop your leadership ability.

HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR LEADERSHIP ABILITY?

3. By being willing to take responsibility. If you won’t carry the ball, you can’t lead the team. A leader can give up everything except final responsibility. This is why those who shy away from responsibility never develop their leadership ability. As a leader, the buck stops at your table. So what kind of person are you when it comes to Responsibility? Dear reader, I want you to know that the following kinds of people won’t take up responsibility neither will they develop their capacity to lead i.e. fault finders, blame traders, the fearful or timid, procrastinators and the lazy fellow. So in order to develop your leadership ability, you need to embrace Responsibility. In fact, you need to make it your best friend (Gen.3v11-13).

Those who develop their leadership ability never shy away from taking responsibilities but they take:

i. Responsibility for themselves. Stop waiting for others. Take responsibility for yourself. No one is coming to save you. This life is 100% your responsibility. So start making it count (Lk.15v17).

ii. Responsibility for your life. Stop blaming others or your circumstances. You are the person responsible for the quality of life you live. So take charge of your life (Judg.6v11).

iii. Responsibility for your actions. It’s time to start taking responsibility for what you do and where you go. It’s time to stop blaming others and face the truth. Doing this will set your life on the pathway of Destiny and Greatness (Rev.22v12).

iv. Responsibility for your results. Stop blaming your outcomes in life on your race, gender, background, etc. Stop blaming others for your misfortunes and setbacks. Instead, take responsibility for your results and see how your life will take a new meaning (Acts 10v34).

v. Responsibility for where you are. It’s time to take responsibility for your condition or current situation and stop trading blames. Start accepting responsibility that you are the cause and the solution of the matter (Gen.3v16).

My dear friends, taking responsibility is one of the major developers of your leadership ability. I, therefore, encourage you to start paying attention to this all-important component of developing your leadership if you really want to stand out in your leadership.
