Matt.4v19-20: Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men”. They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

Acts 4v13: Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Dearly beloved, I believe you are gaining wisdom and valuable insight from this series on developing your leadership ability. Everyone possesses the capacity to lead, but it’s what you do with it that matters. This is why you need to do something tangible and positive about your leadership ability. It’s your responsibility to do something about your capacity to lead and this is what these series of teachings are designed to do, i.e. to put into your hands the necessary tools/devices for releasing your leadership ability. Our focus in today’s lesson will be another major component that will help you to grow your capacity to lead. So if you are ready, here we go!

HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR LEADERSHIP ABILITY?

  1. By Solving Problems. The quickest way to gain leadership is to solve problems! Therefore, the more problems you solve, the stronger your leadership ability and vice-versa also. So which problems are you solving? Do you run away from challenges or confront them? A true leader is a problem solver. Challenges make a leader, and in fact, leaders thrive in the midst of challenges (Acts 10v38). It’s time for you to be a Better Problem Solver! The good thing about solving problems is that you can develop your capacity to solve problems. Just like Joseph developed his own capacity to solve problems right from:

    – Serving as a slave in Potiphar’s house.
    – Serving as a prisoner in prison.
    – Serving as Prime Minister over Egypt.

You, too, can take your capacity to solve problems to another level. It can get better if you start paying attention to certain things. So what are those things that can help you be a better problem solver? They are as follows:

  • Start solving problems now. Start where you are now and with what you have now and it will surprise you where God would take you. (Eccle.11v4).
  • Walk in partnership with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit knows all things; therefore, walking with him is one of the best things to do if you are to become a better Problem Solver (Dan.2v16-22). When you walk with him, you will never go astray.
  • Surround yourself with problem solvers. Who are you walking with? You will become like those you closely walk with. So walk with people who are better solution providers if you want to excel in solving problems! (Pro.13v20).
  • By asking the right kind of questions. The power to question is the basis of all human progress and breakthroughs. So don’t be afraid of questioning everything. Doing this will enhance your capacity to solve problems. So will you begin to do so from today? (Matt.17v19).
  • Develop your gifts/talents. Your gift(s) is the answer to somebody’s problem. You can see this principle at work in the life of Joseph and Daniel in the Bible. Their gifts/talents were the vehicles through which they proffered solutions to the problems of their times. So, my dear reader, it’s time for you to pay more attention to your gifts/talents. As you develop your gift, it will take you to places beyond your imagination in Jesus name, amen. It’s time for you to take up this challenge (Gen.41v38-39). I encourage you to start doing so from today so as to enhance your leadership ability.

Prayer for Today: Holy Spirit, help me to become a Better Problem Solver. From today, I choose to face challenges instead of running away in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: My capacity to solve problems is going to another level as I face my challenges in Jesus name, amen. I will deploy the resources at my disposal in solving my problems. As I do this, I gain experience and exposure, thereby enabling me to become a better problem solver. Glory be to Jesus, for my life and work is getting better as a result of developing my capacity to solve problems.
