Matt.4v19-20: Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men”. They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
Acts 4v13: Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
Dearly beloved, I am super excited about the subject I will be sharing with you from today. It’s about the issue of developing your leadership ability. Yes, leadership is a very important matter. That is all you need to take it very seriously.
So, what is leadership ability? It’s your ability or capacity for leadership. The truth is that everyone has the leadership capacity, but not everyone is developing it. This is why this series of teachings is coming your way. A closer look at our text scripture shows what can happen to anyone who develops their leadership ability. The capacity for leadership of the disciples of Jesus was taken to another level because of their association with Jesus. Ordinary fishermen became extraordinary men because of the development of their leadership ability (Act4:13). This is the kind of transformation that God wants to do also in your life too. Will allow the Lord to have his way? My dear reader, before I begin to share with you how to develop your leadership ability, there are some fundamental truths you need to know about your leadership ability. So, what are these things you need to know?
TRUTHS ABOUT YOUR LEADERSHIP ABILITY:
1. Leadership development is an ongoing process. It’s not a one-off event but continuous work. This is why it will require time, endurance, focus, and determination. This is what leadership development is all about, and this is what it will require of you (2Pet.3:18).
2. Your leadership ability is either growing or diminishing or static. It just depends on what you are doing with it. So, what have you been doing about your capacity to lead, and how would you rate or describe your leadership ability?
3. Your ability is a major determinant of several things in your life. This is why you need to take it seriously. Your capacity to lead will determine your level of success, effectiveness, progress, and several other things. So, it is time to start paying attention to your leadership capacity (Exo.2:11-15).
4. Our leadership ability is not the same. Why is this so? This is so because of our exposure, experience, and what we do with our capacity to lead. This also accounts for why people are on various levels of leadership. So, my dear reader, what have you been doing with your capacity to lead? (Exo.1:15).
5. It’s your responsibility to develop your leadership ability. This is why you can’t blame anybody or the circumstance of life. You need to take the bull by the horn. You have to be intentional and deliberate about developing your leadership ability. Are you willing to do so today? Will you allow the leader in you to arise? (Rom.2:1).
