(Psalm 66:16-17: Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will declare what He has done for my soul. I cried to Him with my mouth, and He was extolled with my tongue)

As human beings, we often don’t count our blessings and this is why our blessings don’t count! Those who count their blessings never stop counting while those who never count their blessings are complaining or condemning your blessings. The Psalmist in Psalm 66:16 clearly knows the importance of counting his blessings; hence, the reason for him declaring (i.e. to make known, number or enumerate) what the Lord has done for him. Do you also realize the power of counting your blessing? I want you to know that it’s never too late to imbibe this attitude of gratitude into your life. What does it mean to count your blessings? It means to enumerate, make mention, to name or to tell of God’s faithfulness in your life (Psalm 89:1). Counting your blessings is a manifestation of gratitude because grateful people count their blessings!

Precious child of God, in order for you to realize the significance of counting your blessings, there are some key truths you need to know and they are as follows:

  • Counting your blessings is a conscious and deliberate action. It is something you have to do intentionally and on purpose as it’s not something that comes naturally to us. Are you ready to imbibe this powerful attitude and habit? (Psalm 106:13)
  • Those who count their blessings always show a credit and not a deficit. Counting your blessings is a value-added weapon because it leaves you in a far better position than it met you. Are you ready to experience this transformation?
  • Everybody has blessings to count. The problem is that we have not been thoughtful enough. If you look inwards, you will see multiple reasons to be grateful. Do you realize that you have reasons to be thankful? (Psalm 116:12-14)

It’s time for you to start counting your blessings. As you do so, may you experience the power of counting your blessings.
