Ps.34v1-2: I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad.

God has given unto every man the power of choice and the choices you make will affect your life and others around you. In fact, the choices you make have great consequences on your life. This is why we need to make the right kind of choices and one of such choices is choosing to be grateful. Gratitude is a choice and not something that is based on the circumstances or situation of life. This is what we can see at work in the life of King David in (Ps. 34:1-2). This choice was to be grateful or praiseful. If your praise will be exceptional, you need to be grateful (Ps. 69:30; 104:33). You can either choose to be grateful or otherwise, the choice is really yours. But if I were you, I will choose gratitude over grumbling. I will choose compliment over criticism.

My dear reader your choice to be grateful is something that you need to do for yourself. Nobody can help you do it. It is a decision that you need to make that:

  • You will be grateful no matter the circumstance of life (Hab.3:17-19).
  • You will be grateful no matter what you are going through (Acts. 16:25).
  • You will be grateful no matter how you feel.
  • You will be grateful no matter people’s attitude/behaviour towards you.
  • You will be grateful even if you don’t understand what is happening (Ps.146v1-2).

Dearly Beloved, what decision have you made with regards to being grateful? My counsel to you today is to choose to be grateful. Why do you need to do so? Why choose gratitude over a complaining attitude? You need to:

  • because gratitude will take you to another level/dimension. Gratitude is a lifter and also has a multiplier effect on things. It will change your life for the better and also your testimony forever (Lk. 17:12-19).
  • Because it is good for you. Gratitude will do you a whole lot of good things than grumbling or complaining. There is a lot of evidence in scriptures and from medical research today that documents the benefits of gratitude. So if I were you, I would go for gratitude (Ps. 92:1).
  • Because whatever you are going through is temporal. No condition is permanent in life. Gratitude will give you the opportunity of responding to life’s challenges in the right way. So, my dear reader, it’s time to seize the moment! (2Cor.4:17-18). It’s time to fully embrace the concept of gratitude as a lifestyle. Doing this is one of the most profitable decisions you can ever make.
