Pro. 14 v 1: “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”

Dearly beloved, it’s possible to build a successful marriage but it’s not an automatic thing, rather it’s something you must work at. I have been sharing some essential materials that are needed to build a solid marriage and so far, I shared seven out of the twelve I intend to share with you. So, if you are ready, I will like to share with you the eighth essential material that you need for a durable marriage.

Materials for building stronger marriages:

8. Build on the right foundation. This is extremely important to the success of your marital journey in life. What kind of foundation are you building your marriage on? Or what kind of foundation have you built your marriage on? Never build your foundation on lies/deceit, guilt, sex, infidelity, money, fear, desperation, tradition et cetera. These are the wrong kind of foundation to build on as those kinds of marriages never work. My dear reader, endeavour to marry for the right reasons. Marry out of conviction and not out of compulsion. Marry out of love and not out of pity.

You cannot have a stronger marriage if the foundation is wrong, weak, or faulty (Ps.11v3). And the foundation is very important in any endeavor. The foundation speaks of the beginning, source, starting point, origin, motive, or basis for a thing. So your foundation has to be right if your marriage will work or succeed. By the way, why should you pay attention to the foundation of your marriage? You need to do so because the foundation is very important because of the following reasons:

  • It will determine how far you can go or will go. How far you go in marriage is determined by the foundation.
  • It will determine what you can carry or withstand i.e. your capacity. It will determine how high you can go or fly. Height is usually determined by depth; so the stronger your foundation, the higher you will be able to fly.

My dear friends, this is why you need to pay a lot of attention to the foundation of your home. I hope your foundation for marriage is right and I also hope your foundation for a stronger marriage is also correct. This is part of the criteria for a successful marriage. I pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to make the right decisions in Jesus name, amen.
