Pro. 14 v 1: “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”
What kind of relationship do you have with your spouse? Whatever and wherever you are in your marital journey, it can get better if you will fully embrace the truths we have been sharing about stronger marriages. These truths will make your marriage better if you will faithfully apply them. I pray that this will be your testimony in Jesus name, amen. Today by His grace, I want you to join me as we discuss another material that will help you to grow your marriage.
Materials for building stronger marriages:
6. Be honest and sincere with each other. Trust is the foundation for any meaningful relationship; so, if you want your marriage to be stronger, you need to avoid deceit and hypocrisy. Stronger marriages are built on trust, not on lies. You can’t afford to be untruthful in your dealings with your spouse. Honesty is still the best policy and if you really want to build a long-lasting and secure relationship, you need to make sincerity your watchword (Col.3v9). In fact, the more sincere and honest you are with your spouse, the better it will be for your relationship. Therefore, both of you should be truthful with each other!
By the way, how can a couple develop trust? There are proven and tested ways of doing this and I’ll like us to examine some of them:
- Be open and transparent with your spouse. Stop hiding or concealing things from each other (Gen.2v25).
- Speak the truth always. It always pays to speak the truth (Pro.12v19).
- Keep your promises/words. Don’t promise what you cannot deliver or keep (2Tim.3v3).
- Be consistent. Be faithful and reliable. Don’t be something else outside apart from what you are to your spouse (Ps.12v1).
- Accept your faults/errors easily. Stop trying to cover up your mistakes/errors (Pro.15v12).
- Be yourself. Be real. Stop pretending (Rom.12v9).
Dearly beloved, these are some of the actions and decisions you need to make in order for you to have a successful marriage. It’s time to embrace honesty and sincerity. It’s time to be truthful with your spouse. It’s time to enter into your season of change!
