Pro. 14 v 1: “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”
God’s purpose is for our marriages to be strong and not feeble but if this will be so, we have to be willing to play our roles in making it stronger. As you can see from (Pro.14v1) what you do or fail to do can either make or mar your marriage. So, you must do things that can make your marriage stronger. The word strong means being able to withstand great force or pressure. It also means secure, solid, durable, long-lasting, and well-fortified. This is how your marriage should be.
How can you succeed in building a stronger marriage? It’s by building with the right kind of materials and in this study, I will be sharing at least 12 important materials that will help you in this regard. But in today’s lesson, I will be sharing one with you. Without much ado, here we go.
Materials for building stronger marriages:
- Working together for the good of your marriage. What makes marriages stronger is when both of you (i.e. husband and wife) work together as a team (Amos 3v3). What does it mean to work together as a team? It means we are not to:
– Work individually i.e. on our own but to carry each other along in the process.
– Work against each other because we ought to be partners-in-progress.
– Work to outdo one another but to work with a united purpose. Just like the acronym of TEAM says – Together Everyone Achieves More! But instead, we (i.e. as husbands and wives) ought to:
– Work for each other because we are on the same team.
– Work through each other because we are companions and not competitors.
– Work for our collective good because we are in the same boat together.
This is how we ought to work if we will succeed in building stronger families. However, in order for you to achieve this, my dear reader, you need to work together with your spouse:
- Deliberately/intentionally (Isa.1v19)
- In agreement
- Sacrificially i.e. ready to make sacrifices (2Cor.12v15).
- Unselfishly (1Cor.10v24).
Dearly beloved, I am confident that a new day and dawn has started in your marital experience as you begin to work together as a team with your spouse. I can see a new you evolving out of your marriage in Jesus name, amen. So go forth and shine!

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, breathe and move upon my marital life! May my marriage be an example of a stronger family in Jesus name, amen.
CONFESSION: I believe in the covenant of marriage and my home shall be a source of inspiration to my world. I am getting stronger and better in my marriage. The covenant of marital joy and fulfillment is my heritage. My home is a shining light and my relationship with my spouse is getting better as I walk in the light of His will and word. I am a living testimony that marriages works! Glory be to Jesus, my marriage is blissful and working!
