Genesis 2:15: Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it

There is dignity and honour in working. God instituted work and expects man to work as we can see in Genesis 2:15. The word dress in Genesis 2:15 also means to work, serve or till. So, God is a strong believer in work and you too should be a firm believer in work.

This is why you need to be productively engaged with something meaningful and useful. Stop despising work or your work. Have faith in your work and celebrate it dearly because there is great gain in labouring. Stop despising whatever you do because:

  • It has the potential to grow and even become bigger. Don’t despise humble beginnings (Zechariah 4:10).
  • It’s one of the basis for God’s blessing. God has nothing to bless if you are doing nothing (Deuteronomy 2:7).
  • There is great reward in working. There is merit and value in working (Matthew 25:16, 21; Proverbs 14:23).
  • There are people who would do anything to have what you do; so, stop belittling what you do. What you think is cheap is not common. Be grateful that you have something to do.

It’s time to take your work seriously. It’s time to be dedicated and sold out to your work. As you begin to focus and believe in whatever you do, the power of believing will take you to new dimensions.
