Pro.22 v 29: “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.”
What kind of worker are you? Are you a diligent or lazy worker? A diligent worker cannot be denied because their works will speak for them. According to (Pro. 22 v 29), a diligent worker shall be elevated and promoted. The word business in (Pro. 22 v 29) also means ministry, employment, or work. Diligence is the philosopher’s stone that turns everything to gold. My dear reader, do you pass the test of diligence? The truth of the matter is that diligence is discernible and perceivable. If you are diligent in your work or assignment, you will know and others around you too will know (Ezra 7v6).
So, how can you recognize a diligent worker? There are certain traits or qualities a diligent worker possesses. What are these qualities? They are as follows:
- They do their work on time. This is how you know a diligent worker. Do you do your task on time or leave it undone? (Rom.12v11).
- They are punctual to work. A diligent worker is not late to work; they know that punctuality is the soul of business.
- They readily take responsibility. They are not full of excuses because they know that responsibility is the price of greatness (Lk.14v18).
- They finish what they started or began. They do not leave their work uncompleted or abandoned (Lk.14v28).
- They are excited to work. They love to work and do not dislike work (Pro.13v24).
- They are self-motivated. They are not waiting for others to push them to work but instead, they take the initiative to work (Gen.39v11).
- They use their gifts/talents to the fullest. They are not hiding or burying their talent. They know how to put to use or work with what they have (Matt.25v16, 26).
Dearly beloved, do you pass this test of diligence? In view of these qualities, how would you score yourself? Wherever you are in the journey of diligence, you can become a better worker. It’s time to embrace the culture of diligence. It’s time to make diligence your best friend!
