1Cor.10v24: Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.

What kind of life are you living? It’s either you are living a life of:

  • Survival i.e. striving to make ends meet.
  • Success i.e. a blessed life.
  • Or significance i.e. a life that is a blessing unto others.

God’s purpose is for you to live a significant life. This is the highest form of life you can live and this is the life Apostle Paul was referring to in (1Cor.10v24) i.e. a life that is other-people-minded or that adds value to other people. If we take a closer look at (1Cor.10v24) in some other translations, you will understand better what I mean:

  • None of you should be looking out for your own interests but for the interest of others —Good News Translation.
  • No man is to seek his own advantage but rather that of his neighbor —New American Standard Bible.

Dearly beloved, this is what a significant life entails and this should be your aim and goal as this kind of life brings glory and honor to the Lord (Jn.5v35). How would you score yourself with regard to this kind of life? Are you living primarily for yourself or living a service-oriented life? It’s important to ask yourself these questions if you truly want to live a life of relevance.

My dear reader, before I end our discussion today on this subject matter, there are some questions I want you to ponder on with regards to living a significant life and these questions are as follows:

  • Have I served my community today, be it local or global?
  • Have I given without expectation of receiving back?
  • Have I mentored, taught, helped or coached someone?
  • Have I been present and involved with my family?
  • Have I led with compassion?
  • Am I leaving a foot print I am proud of?

The answers you give to these questions will reveal to a great extent where you are in your quest for a significant life. I pray that you will have the courage to make the needed changes in your life in Jesus name, amen.

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, I fully embrace and I also commit myself to living a significant life in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: A significant life is my heartily desire and pursuit. I am committed to living a life of significance. I choose to be a giver and not a withholder. I choose to love and not to hate. I choose to serve God and not to be served. I choose to be a blessing and not a burden. I choose to be a plus factor everywhere I go. This is my solemn vow and promise. Holy Spirit, help me to be faithful to the end in Jesus name, amen.
