Lk. 18 v 1: Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.

Dear friends, it’s God’s will for you to always pray and not to faint. This will is expressed in Lk.18v1. This is how God wants you to be, i.e. in the mood and spirit of prayer. Jehovah wants you to have a robust, virile, and productive prayer life. This is why you need to know the importance or significance of prayer. However, if you have been following this series of lessons, you will see that I have shared so far with you eight (8) reasons why you need to pray. By His grace, I will be shedding more light on why you need to pray in today’s lesson. So without much ado, let’s find out these reasons.

WHY PRAY?

  1. Because Jesus is a man of prayer. If you notice, I said Jesus is and not was a man of prayer. By this, I simply mean that while Jesus was here on planet earth, he prayed and while he is at the right hand of the Father now, he is still praying. In fact, he presently lives to intercede for us today (Rom. 8 v 34). So if Jesus is a man of prayer, are you not supposed to like him since you came from him? My dear reader, if Jesus is given to prayers, there is no reason why you too should not be prayerful (Lk. 21 v 31-32).
  2. In order to bring to pass God’s promises to you.  I have discovered that prayer is a means of giving birth to the promises of God. It’s one thing to have his promise, it’s another thing to experience his promise. Prayer makes things happen. This is why you, too, need to pray, as prayer is the vehicle for the fulfillment of God’s promises. So it’s time to pray (1Tim. 1 v 8; Ps. 119 v 49).
  3. In order for you to live and lead a quiet and peaceable life. Prayer determines what happens in our World, Nations, and Communities. This is one of the major reasons why you need to pray because prayer will not allow things to be out of place or disarray. This is why God expects you to pray because prayer helps you to keep things in the right shape and order. My dear reader, just imagine what this world would have been without prayer (1Tim. 2 v 1-2).
  4. In order for God to be able to intervene in the natural occurrence of life. Did you know that prayer is the legal means by which God gets involved with humanity or this World? God can hardly do anything for humanity except someone ask him to do so. This is why you need to be prayerful because you are bringing God into the scene when you pray. So, my dear brothers and sisters, it’s time for you to take the ministry of prayer seriously. I hope you will rise up to the challenge from today (Ps. 2 v 8).

Prayer for Today: Holy Spirit, be thou my helper and strengthener in the place of prayer in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: By reason of the anointing today, I break away from every form of laziness and weariness in the place of prayer. My weaknesses is turning into strengths. My struggles are turning into success. I am mounting up in my prayer life. I shake myself off from every entanglement and yoke of Luke-warmness and prayerlessness. I delight to pray and I love to seek his face. Glory be to God, for as I seek his face, I am being transformed from glory to glory in Jesus name, amen.
