HOW TO WORK EFFECTIVELY WITH YOUR LEADER (1Cor.16v10;
Phil.2v19-22)

INTRODUCTION

In our last lesson, we laid a solid foundation on the concept of Working Effectively with your
Leader i.e. by defining the concept and also looking at some of the parameters of our Ability to
work with our Leader. Our focus today will be the things that can help us to work better with our
Leaders.

A. WHAT IT TAKES TO WORK EFFECTIVELY
It takes the following Attributes to Work Effectively:

1. The Right Kind of Skills. A Skill is a learned or natural ability to accomplish a particular task. Skills are expertise or talent to do a job or task (Ps.33v3: 1Ki.7v13-14: Exo.31v1-5).

2. The Right Kind of Mindset. By mindset, I mean Disposition, Attitude, Spirit or Perspective or things. Num.13v30; 14v24 (Caleb): Neh.3v5: Rom.16v3-4 (Aquila and Priscilla).

3. The Help of God i.e. Divine Support/Assistance (Pro.10v22: Ps.127v1: Isa.41v10, 13-14: 2Ki.6v26-27). You need to have these three things in place in order to work effectively with your Leader. However, we can break them down into the following in order to work effectively.

B. TIPS ON WORKING EFFECTIVELY WITH YOUR LEADER
1. Be willing to contribute your Quota. Are you a Contributor or a Consumer? Those who contribute meaningfully to the vision/work, work better with their Leaders. Your work with your Leader goes to another level when you become a Contributor (2Tim.1v15-18: Rom.16v1, 2, 3, 5).

How to be a Contributor?
– Be Available. Be there when you are needed (Phil.2v20, 22).
– Be Accessible i.e. Let it be easy to reach you (Acts 11v25: 2Tim.4v11).
– Bring Something to the Table (1Cor.16v10).
– Use what you have for the good of the work (Mk.14v8).
– Support the Work/Vision Financially (Lk.8v2-3).
Are you contributing your Quota?

2. Respect/Honor your Leader(s). You cannot attract what you despise. You will only attract what you Respect. Those who work very well with their leader’s respect and honor them (1Thes.5v12-13: 1Tim.5v17-18: Gal.6v6: Mal.1v6: Rom.13v7).
How can you do this?
– Hold them in high esteem (1Thes5v13: Heb.13v24: Phil.2v12).
– Appreciate them (1Thes.5v12: Heb.13v7).
– Obey/Submit to their leadership (Heb.13v17).
– Speak well of them (Jud.1v8: Exo.22v28).
– Be sincere in your Love (Rom12v9: Phil.4v10).
How well do you Respect/Honor your Leader(s)?

3. Faithfully Serve i.e. Be faithful in your Service. Nothing is as encouraging to your Leader as this! (1Cor.15v58; 4v2: Matt.25v21,23: Col.4v7,9: Lk.16v10-12: 1Sam.22v14: 2Ki.3v11: Pro.27v18).
How can you do this?
– Don’t be hypocritical in your service (Eph.6v6: Col.3v22).
– Serve with all your heart (Col3v23)
– Serve with goodwill (Eph.6v7).
– Serve to the best of your ability (Eccle.9v10).
– Serve with a loyal spirit. Don’t become a Judas (Jn.6v70-71: Matt.26v14-17, 47-50:
1Sam26v5-11).
How faithful are you in your Service?

4. Be a Blessing and not a Burden. Being a blessing will help you to profit in your work with your Leader! Are you a blessing or a burden to your Leader? See the experience of Apostle Paul- (2Tim.4v9-12, 14-15, 19, 21: 1v15-18: Col.4v7-11: Phil.2v20: 1Cor.16v10, 15-18).
How to be a blessing?
– Bear part of the burden of Leadership/the Work (Gal.6v2: Num.11v14-17).
– Be a solution provider and not a Problem (Dan.1v17-20).
– Support/Promote the Vision of the House.
– Be/Do good where you serve (Gal.6v9-10: Acts9v36-41: Rom.16v1-2).
Are you really a blessing to your Leader?

5. Being Sincere/Truthful. You need to be sincere/truthful if you will really be effective in your work with your Leader. Good/Great Leaders appreciate Sincere/Truthful Workers (Phil.2v20-22: Acts5v1-11: Pro.12v17, 19, 22).
How can you do this?
– Always speak the truth to your Leader. Tell your Leader(s) what they NEED TO KNOW, not what they WANT TO HEAR (Pro.28v10; 26v28: 1Ki.22v1-28).
– Be honest/sincere in your Assessment/Evaluation (Acts 6v3).
– Speak the truth in Love (Eph.4v15).
– Speak the truth respectfully (1Pet.3v8: Dan.4v4-27).
– Live by the truth (Jn.8v32: 2Cor.13v8: Jn.18v15-16).
How sincere are you with your Leader?
