LESSON ONE (A):
HOW TO LEAD EFFECTIVELY (Isaiah 9v16)

INTRODUCTION

The task of Leadership is not easy, hence the reason why we need to know how to Lead effectively. Therefore to be Successful as a Leader, you must know how to lead effectively. This is the essence of this training.

A. Leading Effectively means how to get the job done or how to be effective in your Leadership. It also means getting results or being fruitful in your Leadership. Jn.15v8,16.

B. Questions to Ponder On?
a. Are you effective in your Leadership?
b. How effective is your Leadership?
You need to constantly ask yourself these Kinds of Questions if you really want to succeed in leading others!

C. PARAMETERS TO GAUGE YOUR LEADERSHIP EFFECTIVENESS
The following things can help you to measure your level of Effectiveness in Leadership:
i. How well do your people follow you? i.e. totally, half-heartedly, closely, barely, etc. Leadership is simply put “the ability to obtain followers”. So if people are not
following you, then it means you are not leading well. (Matt.4v19: 19v27; Jug.6v34;
1Sam.11v6-8).
ii. How much fruits or results are you getting? i.e. much, more, little or no results. The degree to which you are fruitful/productive is an indication of your Effectiveness (Jn.15v2, 5,8,16). Are you achieving your targets, goals/aspirations? (Lk.10v1, 17).
iii. What kind of impact are you making? i.e. Lasting/Enduring, Temporary, Superficial, Real, etc. Real Leadership is about Influencing or Changing People/Things positively (Matt.5v14, 16; Phil.2v15; Jn.5v35).
iv. How well are you growing? Growth is an indication of Effectiveness. Are you
experiencing Addition, Multiplication, Overflow or just Diminishing or Maintaining? (Exo.1v7; Gen.1v26, 28; Acts2v47: 5v12; 6v1,7).
v. What kind of legacy are you leaving behind? Can things go on in your absence or will things fall apart in your absence? True Leadership is measured by Succession (Pro.13v22; Matt.4v19; Acts4v13; Phil.2v12; Num.27v18-19).

Thoughts to Reflect On?
1. How well are people following your Lead? Remember there is no Leadership without Followership! Leadership is measured by Followership.
2. Are you getting results or productive? Leadership is measured by your capacity to get results or get things done. No Results! No Leadership! Much Results! Great Leadership.
3. What kind of changes are you seeing? Leadership is measured by your ability to bring about Positive/Lasting Changes. Are you a Change Agent?
4. How well are you growing? Leadership is measured by your capacity to Grow. Leadership has a Multiplier’s Effect on things.
5. How well will you be remembered? (Pro.10v7). Leadership is measured by the kind of legacy you leave behind. No Succession! No Leadership (Deut.34v9)
