WHY YOU NEED TO STUDY THE BIBLE 2

Joshua 1 verse 8: ‘This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.’

Are there reasons why you need to study your Bible? The answer is a definite YES. There are lots of reasons why we should study our Bible as a child of God. In our last lesson I shared some of those reasons with you. Today by his grace we will be looking into other important reasons for studying your Bible. So here we go!

REASONS FOR STUDYING THE BIBLE:

6. Because it is the word of God. It is the word of the Almighty to you, inspired by men who were moved by the Holy Spirit.  2Tim3v16; 2Pet1v20-21. This is why you ought to study the Bible. The Bible is not any book or a story book but it is God’s personal letter to you as his child. The Bible contains the word of God that God himself wants all of his children to be familiar with. And this is why you need to study your Bible.

7. Because it is Authentic, Authoritative and Reliable. It is the truth and nothing but the truth. It is a very powerful and reliable book. Jn8v32, Heb4v12, Ps107v20. Yes my dear friends, this is another intriguing reason why you need to study the Bible. The Bible is an authentic, authoritative and reliable book that will change your life forever. 

8. So as not to be deceived or easily led astray. If the devil will not get the better part of you then you need to know the Bible. Matt22v29; Jam1v16; Eph4v14. And don’t forget that deceit is one of the primary weapon of Satan asides ignorance and fear. Yes, my dear beloved ones, one of the reasons a lot of believers are easily led astray is because they don’t have a virile bible study life. So it’s time to make hay while the sun shines.

9. Because it offers guidance for every area of life. The word of God offers counsel, principles and teachings that can guide you in making decisions and living fulfilling life. Ps119v105, 133. There is no area of life that the word of God does not speak to. This is why you need to study your Bible faithfully.

10. Because it helps us to know God better and intimately. You know God by knowing his word and studying it allows you to learn about God’s ways, nature, attributes and plan for your life. Jn8v32; 2Pet3v18. Listen to me my dear friends nothing helps you to know God better than his word. So my advice to you today is to take your studying of the Bible more seriously. One thing is sure as you do this, your entire life won’t be the same again. I pray that this will be your experience in Jesus name, amen.
