WHY YOU NEED TO STUDY THE BIBLE 1

Joshua 1 verse 8: ‘This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.’

INTRODUCTION

There should always be a reason behind anything you do and much more importantly the reasons one gives, should be a good one. So when it comes to studying the Bible there are a lot of good reasons why you should study your Bible. This is what we will essentially be doing in today’s lesson and may God grant us all understanding in Jesus name. Pro16v4, 22. So what are the reasons why you need to study your Bible as a child of God? What are the significance and importance of studying your Bible? Here are some reasons why you should do so.

REASONS FOR STUDYING THE BIBLE:

There are a number of good reasons why you need to study the Bible, and I would like us to examine some of these reasons as follows:

1. Because God wants you to do so.  He wants you to be familiar and acquitted with his word. This is his will and desire for all his children. Pro4v20-22; Jn5v39. My dear friends, this is one of God’s greatest desires and plans, this is why you should take your Bible study seriously.

2. So as to understand and know what the Will of God is. The word of God is the will of God. So the key to discovering the will of God is by studying the word of God. 2Tim3v15; Eph5v17. The word of God will reveal the will, mind and plan of God, so this is why you need to take Bible Study seriously. Rom12v2; 1Thess4v3. I hope that you can see now that discovering God’s will is connected to your Bible study.

3. So that you may prosper in all that you do. Studying God’s word will enable you to do well and excel in all that is good and desirable. 2Tim3v16; Jos1v7-8. My dear brother and sisters, studying the word of God is critical and connected to your prosperity in life generally. This is why I would advice you to take your time of studying God’s word diligently.

4. For your personal edification, development and growth. The word is part of your diet for spiritual growth and development. So studying it is crucial to your growth. 2Pet3v18; 1Pet2v2. Just like you need food in the natural realm to grow, you need God’s word in order to grow spiritually. So why not make Bible study an essential part of your life.

5. So as to nourish and build up your faith. The study of God’s word will make your faith strong because it will provide you with the opportunities of hearing and accessing the word of God. Rom10v17. Your faith can’t grow without the word of God. Yes your faith can’t grow beyond your knowledge of God’s word and studying the Bible will afford you that great privilege and opportunity.

So my dear friends, I believe that you can see from the above mentioned reasons today, why you need to take studying of the bible more seriously than before. And I am very sure that you will not want to miss this blessings for anything in the world. See you in the next lesson.
