Philippians 2 verse 19 – 22: ‘V19-But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. V20- For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. V21- For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.’
It’s important for you as a labourer in God’s house to be the kind of worker that brings him glory and praise because not everyone laboring in God’s vineyard brings him glory. When you look at the life of Timothy (from our text scripture), you will see that he was a different kind of worker when compared to other workers Paul had. My dear brothers and sisters, it’s important for you to be the right kind of worker. Why is this important? It’s important because the kind of worker you are will determine the kind of work that you will do. You cannot separate the work of any person from who he is. In fact, your work is a reflection of who you are. The question, however, is, who are you? If you are a disorganized person, it will show in your work. And if you are a disciplined worker, it will also show in your work. A corrupt person cannot do enduring work. This is why you need to pay close attention to the kind of worker you are. Lk 19 v 16 – 17
In our last lesson, I shared examples of some kinds of workers we see in the scriptures. Today by his grace, I will be sharing more insights with you, so let’s examine these points right away without much ado.
TYPES OF WORKERS
5. Loving or Apostate Worker.
Are you a backslidden worker or a worker who is on fire for God? From experience, not all workers are on fire or fervent towards God’s work. Your love can go down or grow cold. This is why you need to keep watch over your fervency! God wants you to be sold out and devoted to his work. Therefore, I decree today that anything that is making you drawback or away from God’s work is hereby terminated in Jesus’ name, amen. Beloved, it’s time to say no to every form of lukewarmness and apostasy in your life. If you believe this, say a big AMEN. 2Tim 1 v 15
6. Profitable or Unprofitable Workers.
I know this may look funny, but it’s the truth. Not everyone is profitable in God’s vineyard. Jb 22 v 2. How profitable are you to God’s house? Of course, you alone can answer this question, but you must be sincere with yourself. It’s time to become more useful and relevant in God’s vineyard. May today mark the beginning of such for you. 2Tim 4 v 11
7. Enduring or Flaky Worker.
God’s work cannot be done by people who are not ready to persevere in the work. There will be discouraging and challenging times while you do God’s work. This is why you need to be tough and committed, otherwise, you won’t last long. It’s high time you did away with every form of sentiment and excuse! It’s time to hang in there. Never say never because tough times will never last forever. As you remain committed to him and his work, you won’t be put to shame. Dear Beloved, it’s time to become the kind of worker that endures to the very end. May you pass the test in Jesus’ name, amen. Matt 24 v 13: Acts 13 v 5 – 13
Other scriptural references: Jn 6 v 66 – 67: Phile 1 v 10 – 11: 2Tim 1 v 15; 4 v 9 – 17: 1Cor 15 v 10: Matt 12 v 35
Prayer for today: Lord I embrace the right kind of Spirit in my service to you in Jesus’ name, amen.
CONFESSION: It’s a new day for me because I am embracing the right ways of serving my Master and God in totality. I choose to be the kind of worker that God will be proud of. I choose to be a valuable worker! I am an asset and not a liability. As I serve in the way he wants to be served, my life is changing from glory to glory in Jesus name, amen.
