Genesis 11verse1-6: ‘Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly”. They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth”. But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the son’s men had built. And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.’
You need to leverage the power of teamwork in your life if you want to go far and make the right kind of impact. Teamwork is a necessary principle or requirement in your life. Whether it’s in the home, church, or any other organization, you need the power of Teamwork. As anointed as our Lord and Saviour was, he leveraged the power of teamwork, and this accounts for why he had 12 Apostles and 70 Disciples. The story that we see in (Genesis 11 verses 1-6) is a clear and vivid demonstration of the power of Teamwork in action. The people were of one mind and dreamt of accomplishing the impossible. They almost succeeded if not for God confusing their language. This story explains the power of Teamwork in action, i.e. nothing is Impossible when we are willing to work together. You need to understand that none of us is as powerful as all of us. There is a limit to what you can do alone but working together opens the door of unlimited possibilities. This is why you need to leverage the incredible power of teamwork.
So what is Teamwork?
– It’s the willingness of a group of people to work together to achieve a common aim or goal.
– It’s the combined effect of a group to achieve a common goal or complete a task most effectively and efficiently.
These are just some dimensions of what Teamwork is all about. At this juncture, I like to share with you some of the basic principles of teamwork that you need to understand or know.
BASIC PRINCIPLES OF TEAMWORK:
- You alone cannot accomplish your dreams, goals, and aspirations. Whatever you want to do or accomplish, you can’t do it all by yourself. You need others. You need their input and contributions. This is why you need the power of Teamwork in your life. A tree alone does not make a forest. This is a fundamental truth about teamwork that you must know if Teamwork will work for you (Gen.6v13-18).
- You need the right kind of people in your Team. It’s not just enough to have people on your team, you also need the right kind of people. It’s just like a football Team. You need defenders, attackers, wingers, goalkeepers, etc., in that team for it to be a team indeed. Nehemiah had the right kind of people in his team when he had to rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem (Neh.2v19: 4v1, 3, 7). This is why not everyone can be on your Team. So make sure you choose your team members wisely.
- You need to be deliberate and strategic in creating and choosing your team members. Choosing and building your team members is something you don’t leave to chance or coincidence. You need to be deliberate and sensitive in doing this all-important assignment. Therefore, you need to choose wisely and discreetly. Be sensitive to the opportunities and leading of the Spirit. This was part of the things that Jesus paid attention to in choosing his Apostles (Matt.4v18-22).
My dear brothers and sisters, I believe you can see why it’s important to have the right kind of team members if you will really leverage the power of teamwork. So make sure you leave nothing to chance as per working together with others. I pray for you today that the power of Teamwork will take you to another level.

Prayer for Today: Thank you Father for opening my eyes to the power of teamwork today in Jesus name, amen.
CONFESSION: The power of teamwork will take me to another level. Therefore, I choose to leverage the power of teamwork. I cooperate fully with the principles of teamwork. Therefore, my work with others is getting better and stronger. My ability to relate well with others is improving. As I collaborate and work with others, my results and impact are changing for the better. Glory be to God in the highest!
