Gen. 39 v 1-6: Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelite’s who had taken him down there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favour in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had, he put under his authority. So it was from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field. Thus, he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.

As a believer, God’s presence is your heritage, and it’s something that you ought to enjoy on a regular basis (Matt. 28 v 20). This presence of God also brings certain blessings into the lives of every child of God. You need to know these blessings in reality because this is God’s intention and will for your life and this will be also the focus of this series of messages. So what does the presence of God imply? God’s presence is the glory is the power of God. It is God being actively involved with you and what you do. This is what we can see in the life of Joseph in our text scripture in (Gen. 39 v 1-6). The Lord was with him. God’s presence is also God’s covering over and among his people (Exo. 13 v 21-22). The presence of the Lord also means the face or the hand of God. These are some of the meanings of God’s presence, as we can see in His holy written word.

However, before I begin to share with you the blessings that his presence brings, there are certain truths you need to know and have concerning God’s presence.

VITAL TRUTHS ABOUT GOD’S PRESENCE:

  1. The presence of God is a tangible substance. By this, I simply mean that God’s presence is real and genuine. It’s not a fake or a figment of someone’s imagination. You need to have this understanding too as a Believer if you will walk in his presence like you ought to do (Gen. 26 v 28).
  2. The presence of God is everywhere. Yes, this is the absolute truth and nothing but the truth. This is why God is omnipotent i.e. He is present at all times and in all places. Glory be to his holy name (Ps. 139 v 7-11).
  3. Although God’s presence is everywhere, it’s more active in some places or people than in other places or people. This is an important truth that you need to know about God’s presence. And do you know the simple reason for this? It’s because of the way people relate to or handle his presence. This is why it looks like God’s presence is more active in some places and people than in some other places or people. This is why it is so important for you to know how to walk in his presence (1 Sam. 10 v 10; Lk. 5 v 17).

Dear Beloved, I do hope you have been able to learn one or two things today about God’s presence that you carry. I pray that you will enter into the fullness of what his presence represents and can do in Jesus’ name, amen.
