Joshua 1 verse 8: ‘This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.’
You welcome back to our discussion on basic truths about bible study. I believe you were blessed in our first lesson by the things we shared. Today by his grace. I will be sharing with you in details the basic truths about Bible study, so off we go, if you are ready?
BASIC TRUTHS ABOUT BIBLE STUDY:
I. The percentage of Believers who study the Word of God are few. This is apparent from the level of ignorance that we have among the Body of Christ. And there are several reasons for this but the major reason is because many Believers don’t take Bible Study seriously. 2Tim2v15; Isa5v13. My dear friends, this is why I believe God is sending this series of teachings your way today. I pray that your Bible study life will be revived in Jesus name, amen.
2. You need to take personal responsibility for the study of God’s word in your life. You can’t blame others or the condition where you are. The buck stops at your table. You need to take responsibility for yourself and your life. This is when things begin to change. Ps119v16, 40, 47, 70, 77, 131. So are you ready to take ownership of the process? And lest I forget nobody can take responsibility better for your life than yourself.
3. The study of the Bible is a systematic and regular way of understanding the word of God. It is a powerful tool that will enable you to be familiar with the word. Isa28v10; 2Tim3v15. I want you to notice the key words here i.e. systematic and regular.
By systematic we mean a methodical, habitual or intentional way of knowing the Bible. And whatever is not specific won’t be dynamic. And regular has to do with being consistent and continually. These powerful tools will gratly enable your bible study in life.
4. The devil does not want you to study the Bible. And the answer is the obvious; Because the word of God is God’s antidote to Satan’s attacks and operations. With God’s word you are able to defeat and overcome the enemy. Matt4v4, 7, 10. So my dear beloved ones, I hope you can see the reasons why you need to study your Bible.
Consider the below quote by J.I. Packer:
“If I were the devil, one of my first aims would be to stop folks from digging into the Bible.”
5. You need to create time for the study of God’s word otherwise other things will take your time and attention. There are other competitors and suitors that will try to lure and seduce you from studying the Bible. This is why you need to make Bible study a topmost priority in your life and you will always have time for the things you value and cherish. Isa34v16, Lk4v16. My dear friends this is another basic truth about Bible that you need to know if studying your bible will become a living experience in your life. So what are the things that are competing with studying the Bible in your life? I pray that today will be the beginning of a massive transformation in your life.
