Jam.2v26: For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
Things don’t just happen but they are made to happen. Nothing just happens. Inaction is sometimes the reason things are not working for most people. You need to say no to inaction or passivity and become a person of action. As you see from our text scripture in (Jam.2v26), faith is an action. It’s not a passive thing; for faith without corresponding action is dead. What are you doing with your time, life, gift, skills, resources etc. if you are doing nothing, then expect nothing (Matt.20v6).
The universe and the creator rewards action and not inaction! Your actions determine your today, tomorrow and your outcomes in life. It’s time to be proactive and not passive. It’s time to be responsible and not reactive. If you are passive, opportunities will pass you by. How then can your life get better? How can you become an action-oriented person?
Overcoming inaction:
– Learn to take action now. Tomorrow is the only day that appeals to a lazy man. So, start today. Get to work now. Make that move today. Seize the moment now! (Eph.5v16).
– Stop waiting for inspiration, get to work now. If you wait for inspiration, you will never get anything done in life. Stop waiting to feel like it, just do what you need to do. Learn to take initiatives. This is how to defeat inaction in your life! Will you do so today? (Eccle.11v4)
– Be Responsible. Take responsibility for yourself, your life and your actions. Stop blaming others. Stop blaming your circumstances. No man owes you anything. If it’s going to happen, it’s up to you (2Ki.7v3).
– Do your work on time: You need to endeavour to do your work or assignment on time if you will truly defeat inaction in your life. Avoid procrastination by all means. You can become the star of the moment if you make the minutes’ count (Gen.39v11).
– Be a finisher. Always endeavour to complete your task no matter how hard it is. Don’t abandon your work midway or for whatever reason. Become a finisher like your Lord and master (2Tim.4v6-8).
My dear reader, it’s possible for you to overcome inaction. It’s possible for you to become more decisive if you will be courageous enough in applying these truths. So rise and shine!
