Pro.26v2: Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause shall not alight.

I believe that you have been enjoying this series of teachings on why your prayers are not answered. As you can see from (Pro.26v2), there is no smoke without fire. In the same vein, there is no curse without a cause. There are reasons why some prayers are not answered and it’s the responsibility of any serious-minded believer to find it out. I have shared so far with you eight powerful reasons why some prayers go unanswered, and today by his grace, I intend to proceed further by sharing two more crucial reasons for disappointments in the place of prayers. So without further delay, I want us to examine these reasons right away.

THE REASONS FOR UNANSWERED PRAYERS:

1. Pride. God does not answer the prayers of an arrogant or proud fellow. In fact, God usually gravitates towards the humble soul rather than an arrogant fellow (Ps.34v18). So if you really want answers to your requests, you need to do away with arrogance or trusting your own works. Your confidence should be in the finished works of Christ and not yourself or greatness. The humble soul will attract God’s grace and favor, while the proud fellow will ultimately be stranded. My dear reader, staying humble is the pathway to receiving answers to your prayers. So it’s important to stay humble; in fact, the fact that God is answering your prayers should keep you humble and not full of yourself (Jam.4v6, 10).

2. Not ready to wait for the answer. At times, the reason for unanswered prayers is because of impatience, i.e. we are not ready to persevere until the answer comes. Some people give up easily or before their answer comes. You must not give up on your prayers if you want to see answers to your prayers. The truth of the matter is that not all prayers will be answered quickly. Some prayers will take time before the answer comes, or some answers might even come in phases or stages but what is important is to never give up (Heb.10v35-39). There is a blessing in waiting and waiting has a way of developing your faith if your attitude is right. My dear reader, make up your mind from henceforth never to quit or give up on your prayers. The fact that you can’t see anything physically does not mean that a lot is happening spiritually or inside, so learn to wait for your answer. I guarantee you that your waiting shall not be in vain.

Prayer for Today: I will not allow pride and impatience to rob me of the joy of answered prayers in Jesus’ name, amen.

CONFESSION: My God is still in the business of answering prayers and he takes delight in my prayers. Therefore, I choose to have faith in God’s ability to hear and intervene in the affairs of life. I am confident God hears and will grant me the petition of my heart. Therefore, my expectations will not be cut off as I wait on the Lord. Glory be to his name; my God will not allow me to be put to shame. Hallelujah to his name, for my joy, is being made full.
