(Proverbs 4:5, 7: Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding)

Learning ought to be continuous because it’s the minimum requirement for success. Are you willing to learn? Are you growing in your capacity to learn? These are questions you need to answer if you really want to move forward in life. One way you can look at the admonition in Proverbs 4:5-7 is for you to never stop learning; hence, the reason why you are being encouraged to get wisdom and understanding. Therefore, it’s God’s will for you to continue to grow in your capacity to learn. In fact, you are never to graduate from the school of life which is basically the school of learning. So, my dear reader, what conscious efforts are you making to learn, relearn and unlearn? One of the secrets of Daniel in Babylon was that he never stopped learning (Daniel 1:4-5: 9:2). You ought to follow his example and lifestyle.

Now, what is the significance of increasing your capacity to learn? What will it to or for you? Your capacity to learn:
– qualifies you for increase or more. This simply means you don’t qualify for more until you increase your capacity to learn (Daniel 1:17-19).
ascertains your capacity to earn. A mere desire will not increase your capacity to earn except your capacity to learn increases. Are you willing to learn so that you can earn more? (Proverbs 14:24)
positions you for leadership. Leadership is not based on age or connection but on your capacity to learn. As Joseph and Daniel grew in their capacity to learn, they came into leadership. A leader is a learner! (Matthew 4:19; Acts 4:13).
sets you up for promotion. Your promotion will be determined, to a great extent, by your willingness to learn. Therefore, if you don’t want to be grounded in life, you need to increase your capacity to learn (Genesis 41:37-39).
establishes your level of competence. The greater your learning capacity, the greater your competence levels and vice-versa (1Samuel 16:18).

My dearly beloved, it’s apparent from what we have seen today that your capacity to learn is something you need to pay attention to. It’s time to take hold of your destiny. It’s time to do something positive about your capacity to learn.
