2 Peter3verse18: ‘But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.’
You are welcome back to our discussion on how to grow spiritually. Yes, your spiritual growth should be of concern to you as a child of God because God is obviously interested in your spiritual growth and development. So what does it take to grow spiritually? My focus in today’s lesson is to share with you one of the foods that will make you grow spiritually! So what is this important food?
1. It is the Word of God. You need to feed on God’s word regularly if you will ever grow spiritually. God’s word is actually food for your spirit and soul. It is an essential menu that you need for spiritual growth. 1Pet2v2; Matt4v4. This important menu is available in two forms:
-The Milk of the Word.1Cor3v1-2
-The Meat of the Word. Heb5v14
So how well do you feed on God’s word? I have discovered that one of the signs of spiritual ill-health is a loss of appetite for God’s word or when someone is not feeding well on God’s word. As believers, we need to feed well and fat on God’s word if we want to grow spiritually! Jer15v16.
So how can we feed on God’s word? Essentially you can feed on God’s word by:
I. Reading the word. This is an important part of feeding on the word and often it is the starting point of feeding or the beginning of the feeding process. This is why it’s important to read the Bible in English (or the lingual Franca), Hebrew, Greek, and the Holy Spirit if you will grow spiritually. 1Tim4v13; Isa34v16.
2. Hearing the Word is another important part of feeding on God’s word. Essentially you can hear the word via preaching or teaching, or speaking the word of God to yourself or through other means such as audio or video. Pro8v34; Rom10v17. Whichever way make sure that you hear his Word because this is how you feed on his word.
3. Studying the Word. By this I mean, researching, analyzing, or looking at God closely. It is deeper than just reading because you are paying more attention to the word in detail. 2Tim2v15.
My dear friends, this is another important way of feeding on God’s word that will help you grow spiritually. So my candid advice to you is to take full advantage of this means of growing spiritually so that your profiting will be evident for all to see. See you in our next lesson for the continuation of this truth.

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, I acknowledge your word as a major source of growing spiritually, so help me Holy Spirit!
CONFESSION: I embrace the word of God as a major means of growing spiritually. I exalt his word more than my food. I love His word more than silver and gold. As I read, hear, and study God’s word, my spiritual growth will be evident in Jesus’ name amen.
