2 Peter3verse18: ‘But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.’

Growth is an essential part of our lives as believers and one of the areas we need to grow is spiritually. This is what I will be sharing with you in this series of teachings. There are ways of growing up spiritually and vice versa. As you can also see from our text scripture (2Peter3v18) God expects us to grow in grace and the knowledge of his Son. But before I begin to share with you how to grow spiritually, we need to understand the concept of spiritual growth. Pro16v22.

So what is Spiritual Growth?

1. It is the process of developing your inner man (which is made up of your spirit and soul).2cor4v16

2. It is the process of developing your spiritual life. As a child of God, you now have a spiritual life that has to be developed. This happened as you gave your life to Christ. 1Thes5v23; Eph2v1

3. It is the process of becoming more like Christ indeed and in truth. We ought to become like Christ in our disposition, conduct, character, behaviour, and way of life as we grow spiritually. Eph4v15.

4. It is the maturing of your walk with God. Or to put it in another way, the development of your relationship with God. Gen17v1; 1Cor13v11.

These are just some of the meanings of spiritual growth. It is important for you to know what it means to grow spiritually, so as to know if you are growing or not. So my dear friends, how would you rate yourself when it comes to the issue of growing spiritually?
