2Chro.27v6: So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.

The new year is here but how prepared are you for the year? I have been sharing with you some of the vital tools that you need in order to have an eventful year. I do believe that you are being blessed by these powerful principles and today by His grace, I will share more insights on these important tools that you need for a glorious year. So here we go!

TOOLS FOR GETTING READY FOR A NEW YEAR:

  1. Review the outgoing year. What does it mean to review? It means to look at something critically. To consider something again or look back on something. It’s time for you to take an honest and critical look at the outgoing year. This is an important exercise for you to carry out if you want a better new year. Why is it important for you to do this exercise? It’s important because:

    * It will help you to see what has been done in the course of the year i.e. your successes and accomplishments.
    * It will help you to see what needs to be done i.e. areas of improvement and change.
    * It will help you to receive instructions and insights (Pro.24v30).
    * It will help you to learn valuable lessons for the future (Rom.15v4).
    * It will help you to see your failures/shortcomings (Pro.24v16)

My dear reader, I hope you can now see why you need to do an audit of the outgoing year. This is extremely important as it will help you to have a better outing in the new year. It’s time to get yourself ready! How do you go about reviewing an outgoing year? What are some of the questions to consider? At this juncture, I will like us to consider some critical questions that you can use to review a year:

  • How was the year?
  • Did I accomplish my goals/objectives?
  • If I did, why did I accomplish them? If not, why didn’t I accomplish them? If some were accomplished, why were the others not fulfilled?
  • Did I do the will of God or my will or that of my flesh?
  • Is God happy with me?
  • Am I happy with myself?
  • Did I give my best?
  • Can I do better than this? Am I fulfilling my potential?

My dear reader, these are some of the questions you need to ask yourself in order for you to do a thorough audit of an outgoing year. Are you ready to take up this challenge? I pray that you will do so today so that you can reap a better tomorrow ahead of you.
