Divine Guidance 5

Romans 8 verse 14 ’For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are sons of God.’

You are welcome back to our discussion on divine guidance. I believe that this series of teachings bless you. You need to know that as a child of God, God takes delight in speaking with you (as you can see from our text scripture). However, today my focus will be on the qualities you need to have to be led by God. My dear friends, I have discovered from experience that certain qualities make it possible for you to be led of God and some qualities don’t make it possible. As a wise person, you need to focus on those qualities that will make it possible for you to hear God. So what are these qualities? These qualities are as follows:

1. You need to be a child of God. It’s much easier for a child of God to hear his Father’s voice than a stranger. So being a child of God puts you in a position of hearing God. So are you a child of God? Then it’s your heritage to hear from God. There are several scriptures to support this claim, some of which are as follows: Acts 10v19; 11v12,28; 13v2; 15v28.

2. You need to be his servant. Those who serve him in spirit and truth have a great tendency to hear God. So what are you doing for God? Where are you serving in his house and how committed are you to serving God? If your answers to these questions are a definite Yes, then you are qualified to hear his voice. This is what happened to the likes of Anna the prophetess in Luke2verse36-38 and Elisha in 2 Kings 3verse11-12. Both of these people were active and sincere in their service to the Lord. This will also become your lot as you commit to a life of diligently serving God. Are you ready to make this commitment?

3. Those who walk with God. As a child of God, I know you have a relationship with God as your father, but beyond this, you need to walk with God. Walking with God means that you nurture your relationship by fellowshipping with God. It is those who become the friends of God that are prone to hearing his voice. So my dear reader, where are you in your relationship with God? Are you close or far away from God? The answers you give to these questions will tell where you are in your walk with God! So my challenge to you today is to take your walk with God more seriously, to become a candidate for hearing his voice. Gen6v9,13
