Philipian2verse5: ’Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:’
Your attitude is like a compass determining the direction your life takes. This is why you need to pay attention to it if you are ever going to manifest fully your glorious destiny. This is why we have been talking about the importance and relevance of our attitude in this series of teachings. I pray that your attitude will emerge stronger in Jesus name, amen. However our focus in today’s lesson we will be on the enemies of our attitude. Yes every good thing has an enemy and if you will ever get the best out of your attitude you must know how to handle these enemies. SOS2V15, Jn10v10. So without much ado, I want us to examine some of them right way.
THE ENEMIES OF OUR ATTITUDE(S):
- Failure. Failure becomes devastating and causes our attitude to crash when we quit. Winners don’t quit. Quitters don’t win. You may be down but you are not out. This the kind of mindset that will put you over in life. (Mk.7v8). So don’t allow your failures to hinder your attitude. By every possible means, maintain a positive attitude towards your failures.
- Discouragement. Discouragement hurts our self-image which in turn hurts our attitude. It makes us see ourselves less than what we really are. See the example of Elijah: 1Ki.19v4, 9-10, 18. So give discouragement no room to thrive in your life. If Elijah can become discouraged, you too can, so stand against every iota of discouragement in your life.
- Sin (Ps.119v11: 66v18). Struggling with sin will surely affect my attitude. Hence, the reason why I need to deal with sin (Ps.51v1-2; Ps.32v1-5). Ii is important for you not to allow sin to dominate your life if you want to have a better attitude. We give sin the power to dominate us when we refuse to admit and repent. So be, humble enough to admit your sins, so that you can find mercy to heal.
- Problems and challenges. See Paul’s attitude towards problems. Always endeavor to have the right kind of attitude towards any challenge you have. The truth of the matter is that problems can either help or destroy your life, it depends on the type of attitude you have. So chose to be like Apostle Paul who demonstrated a good attitude towards problems in general.
- Change. Change brings growth if our attitude is right. It can either make or mar us (Jn.16v6-7). So how have you been responding to change?
- Criticism (Lk.17v1; Matt.7v1-5). We need to follow Jesus’s example with regards to how he dealt with criticism. How you handle criticism can either help or hamper your attitude. So my charge to you today is to follow our best example in handling criticism which is our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Negativism. We need to deal with negative thinking otherwise it will affect our attitude (Pro.23v7; Phil.4v8). If you want to have a better attitude you need to do away with negative thinking. And in case you are wondering how to do this. The answer to this question is the word of God. Embrace God’s word and his thoughts. In so doing you will be able to successfully deal with negativism in your life.
My dear brothers and sisters you should not allow these enemies of your attitude to stop you from developing better attitudes. I pray that as you rise up to this challenge you will prevail in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: Glory be to God in the highest for it is a new day for me because I am entering into a season of better attitude and behavior generally in every area of life. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and his Word, a newer and stronger me is emerging in Jesus name, amen.
