DEVELOPING A BETTER ATTITUDE 3

Philipian2verse5: ’Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:’

In our last lesson we saw the value and importance of our attitude with regards to whatever we do. Today we shall be looking at some couple of things that will enhance our understanding of our attitudes. Once we have a clearer and deeper understanding of our attitude it will help us to see the need for cultivating a better attitude in our lives generally speaking. (Pro.9v6: 13v15).

1. THE THINGS THAT SHAPES OR MOLDS OUR ATTITUDES

Before we consider this, the following truths are important with regards to the construction of our attitude:

1. Your growing year(s) as a child are the most important for instilling the right attitude (Pro.22v6). This absolutely important. We need to get it right from the beginning. I mean the foundational years. Ps11v3. So what kind of foundational experience did you have as a child with regards to instilling the right attitude in you? Can you recollect any at all? Or was it an unpleasant experience you had as a little child while growing up? The answer you give to these questions will determine the state of your attitude to a large extent?
2. Your attitude’s growth never stops. Yes it never stops. It’s actually going on whether you are conscious of it or not. Your attitude is being affected either directly or indirectly. This is why you need to start paying attention to your attitude. Pro24v30-34.
3. The more your attitude grows on the same foundation, the more solid becomes. This is another critical principle that helps in the construction of your attitude, so how intentional are you about reinforcing the right attitudes in your life? How committed are you to imbibing the attitudes that can positively enhance your life? The more deliberate you are in this assignment the stronger you will become in developing better attitudes. 4. Many builders help construct our attitude at a certain time or place. There are a lot of other things that helps in building your attitude generally speaking and some of these builders also contribute significantly to whatever kind of attitude that you have today. This is why you should be watchful and alert to whatever is trying to shape or mold your attitude. 1Pet5v8.
5. These is no such thing as a perfect, flawless attitude. Yes this is absolutely true. There is no one with a perfect flawless attitude besides our Lord Jesus Christ. So for us as human, we will have to be working on our attitudes from time to time. I think the reason for this is obvious i.e. the coming of sin into our world. But thanks be to God for his empowering grace by which we can develop stronger attitude. So my dear friends, as long as you are in this body you will have to constantly work on your attitude. 1Cor15v10.

And this is why I believe that the truths that you are going to be receiving from this teaching will be quite helpful in developing a better attitude towards life. May this be a living reality in your experience in Jesus name, amen.
