(Proverbs 19:21 — AMPC: “Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand”)
I believe you are enjoying this series on a Purposeful Life. We have been looking at what a purposeful life is all about and today we shall be considering one more meaning of a purposeful life.
What is a purposeful life?
It’s a focused life. Those who live a life of purpose are not drifting through life and getting easily distracted but are focused on where they are going, what they are doing and who they need to be. Purpose helps you to focus on the things that really matters (Ecclesiastes 6:8). Are you focused on the things that are important or are you busy chasing shadows? Are you playing to the gallery or pleasing God?
So, how can you know what really matters? The following points will help you to know the things that really matter in life:
The things that are in line with your priorities and objectives in life. Those are the things to focus on (Philippians 3:13-14).
The things that are in line with your assignment and calling in life. Focus on your assignment and not some other person’s calling (Colossians 4:17).
The things that are in line with your values and belief system. Focus on the things that add value to you spiritually (Matthew 6:33).
The things that bring you the greatest returns and rewards. Those are the things that matters in life.
The things that capture your heart and not just your head. Don’t get carried away by the things you see but by the things that capture your heart.
It’s time to start focusing on the things that matters in life for this is how to live a purposeful life.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father God, I receive your grace to live a focused life. Holy Spirit, help me to stay focused on the things that matter to my purpose in life.
CONFESSION: I live a purposeful life because I am focused on the things that really matter in life. I do not beat about the air neither do I chase shadows. I am focused on my priorities and objectives. I am focused on my assignment and calling. I am focused on my values and belief system. I am focused on the things that are important as against urgent because my eyes are on Him and my purpose; therefore, I will not be put to shame.
