John15verse1-2, 8 ‘V1-I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. V2-Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. V8-Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
Fruitfulness gladdens the heart of your Heavenly father. In fact, God takes pleasure in your fruitfulness, as you can see from our text scripture (John15v8). This is why bearing fruits should be your heart’s desire, as you would not want God to be displeased with you. This is why you need to take the issue of fruitfulness seriously as a believer. Your fruitfulness should be your concern and it’s something you need to evaluate from time to time. This is why the focus of our discussion today will be centered on how to measure your fruitfulness. So how can you, as a believer, gauge your level of fruitfulness? You can do so via the following means:
1. By the kind of results or outputs that you have. The kind of results that you have in your life is a function of your fruitfulness. So what kind of results are you churning out? Is it positive or negative? Is it lasting fruits or temporal fruits? Are you bearing much fruit or lesser fruits? The answers you give to these questions will tell where you are with regard to your level of fruitfulness. Matt7v16,20
2. By the number of lives that you are touching. The true measure of life is not in its duration but its donation. So how many people are getting better because of you? Your answer to this question will tell whether you are living or merely existing. We need to draw inspiration from the life of Tabitha (Acts9v36-41) in the bible. Her life touched several other people in such a significant way. You, too, can do the same if you can begin to pursue a life of purpose and meaning. May today usher you into such kind of experience. Jn5v35
3. By the kind of impact that you have. What kind of impact do you have on people or things? How useful and valuable are you to God and humanity? Your response to these questions will determine the kind of impact that you have. Everyone has an impact, regardless of who you are or your age. Sociologists tell us that the most introverted of people will still influence an average of 10000 people in their lifetime. So dear reader, I hope you can see that we don’t really have any excuse not to live an impactful life. Pro4v18
It’s time to begin to live a life of impact. It’s time to be deliberate about living. As you do this, you will notice that your level of fruitfulness will increase. So what are you waiting for then? Start by making the most of every day!
