Putting God First 6

Luke 12v16-21: “Then he spoke a parable to them, saying: The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully and he thought within himself, saying, ‘what shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this; I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

Blessings! Dearly beloved, I sincerely believe that you are getting blessed from this series of lessons on putting God first in our lives. Our focus is still on the areas that we ought to put God first and in today’s lesson, we shall be looking at other areas where we ought to honour God. Here we go!

AREAS TO PUT GOD FIRST IN YOUR LIFE:

2. In your decisions. Is God first in your decision-making or considerations? Do you allow God to choose for you or do you choose for yourself? I want you to carefully consider this question. Your decisions are also another important area of life where you need to put God first and your decisions will determine the direction in which your life will go. This is the more reason why you need to pay attention to the kind of decisions you make because it can either make or mar your destiny. One of the major secrets of King David was that he always strived to put God first in his decisions. No wonder he never lost any battle (1Samuel 23v2, 4). I challenge you today to start putting God first in the kind of decisions that you make.

3. In your interests. Do you put God first in your interests? Are your interests in line with God’s interest? Are you interested in what God is interested in? Are you interested in soul-winning, building His kingdom, helping the needy, integrity, legacy et cetera. You need to align your interest with God’s interest. It’s when His will becomes our greatest pleasure that our lives will find its greatest honor and satisfaction. It’s time to align your will with God’s will. This is the best position anybody can ever be and may this be your heart’s desire in Jesus name, amen (Proverbs  16v7).

Precious child of God, it’s time for you to put God first in your decisions and interests. For when you honor God in this manner, your life will take a new turn for the better. I encourage you to make that move today.

Prayer for Today: Lord, help me to honour you in my decisions and my interests. Help me to put you first in my decisions and interests in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: Lord, I commit myself to putting you first in all of my decisions and all my interests. I declare that I will put you first in my considerations, plans, intentions, and choices. I also declare, by your grace, that I will put you first in my interests and desires. I delight to do your will and I exalt your will above my own will. I know that you mean well for me and that you always have my best interest at heart. Therefore, I fully surrender to your will for me, knowing that everything will work together for my good in Jesus name, amen.
