(2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new)
I believe that you are enjoying our discourse on your identity in Christ. It’s clear from (2Cor.5:17) that we now have a new identity in Christ and you need to believe in your new identity and also start seeing yourself from this perspective. In our last lesson, I shared with you some of the reasons why you need to be aware of your new identity in Christ. Today by His grace, I will share two more reasons with you:
Reasons to Know Your Identity in Christ
- In order to boost your self-worth. Knowing your identity in Christ will lift your self-esteem. Many believers today suffer from poor self-esteem and sometimes, the reason is because of a lack of understanding of who they are in Christ. If you know your true identity, you won’t feel unworthy or useless. As a matter of fact, you are more than physical. Precious child of God, I want you to know that you are:
- Greatly loved by God (1 John 3:1)
- The apple of God’s eye (Zechariah 2:8)
- Important to God (Matthew 10:30)
- A rare breed (1 Peter 2:9)
- A masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10)
- Accepted in Christ (Ephesians 1:6)
- Extremely blessed and highly favored (Ephesians 1:3)
If you take all of these things seriously, you will have no basis for feeling inferior. So, it’s time to embrace your new identity in Christ.
- So that Satan won’t rob you of your inheritance. Satan is a thief and one of his goals is to deny you of your inheritance. However, this can be difficult if you know who you really are. Your knowledge of your identity sets you free from every bondage of the enemy. I see this becoming the order of the day for you. I see you recovering every lost territory back as you begin to walk in your true identity in Christ (John 10:10).

Prayer for Today: Father God, help me to fully comprehend my new identity in Christ. Help me to accept and come into terms with my true identity in Christ. I renounce every contrary impression of the enemy and the world concerning me in Jesus name, amen.
CONFESSION: I am who God says I am and I choose to see myself from God’s perspective, not the world’s perspective. My identity in Christ makes me a winner and not a loser. I am in union with Christ; therefore, I walk upon my high places. I walk in dominion over Satan and his cohorts. I am God’s masterpiece and not an ordinary person. I am loved and blessed by my heavenly Father; therefore, I say “no” to every lie from the pit of hell. The gates of hell shall not prevail over me because I belong to Christ. Glory be to his holy name.
